Flavor Buffet

Happy Friday!

It’s about to be the last weekend before the holidays; are you ready? Once you’re all set with gifts and such, I hope you make time to relax a little. Even amidst the busy days to come, I plan to schedule time to do absolutely nothing. Except, perhaps, read the Buffet. 😏

Read

An important question this holiday season since the humble cheese platter is so prominent: why is some cheddar cheese orange?

A day in the life of a Radio City Rockette! Fascinating and very interesting, but sounds exhausting to me. Have you ever seen the iconic show at Radio City Music Hall?

Is it too late to request a specialized baking ingredient? I hope not. Bakers, we may all need this very special vanilla paste.

Cook

Chicken and Rice Soup with Garlicky Chile Oil - one of my favorite soups we made all year! Perfect for cold, cold nights. And there is plenty for lunch the next day. It would be a delicious dish for Christmas, too.

Spicy-Sweet Sambal Pork Noodles - this is a contender to make on New Year’s Eve. It just sounds so good! Nothing better than a big bowl of noodles to toast 2019 and welcome 2020.

Adam and Maxine’s Famous Latkes - Chanukah begins on Sunday night! Find your gallon of oil, buy up all the potatoes, and get cooking! If you need me, I’ll be studying this recipe and finding my most-stretchy pants. #latkesforlife

Dine

Make a reservation at one of these excellent spots this holiday season. I highly recommend them all!

No. 9 Park - one of my favorite “celebration meal” spots in all of Boston. Make a reservation and take an evening off; it will be truly fabulous.

Oak Long Bar and Kitchen - another awesome place to visit during the holiday season. Busy with a happy holiday energy and wonderful decor, we love this bar for cocktails and snacks at lunch or dinner. But the brunch is great, too. ;)

Myers and Chang - such a fun restaurant! I love their dedicated gluten free menu, the seating facing the open kitchen, and the happy staff that’s always so welcoming. Make a reservation for dinner, lunch, or dim sum, and have a really great time. The GF menu is jam-packed with awesome dishes. Don’t miss the nasi goreng. ;)

Shop

It’s not too late to find the perfect gift! In fact, I found these goodies and may need to order them all.

Baker’s Sto N’ Go - why risk your beautifully baked cookies shattering to pieces while traveling to the party? I need a few of these.

Chappywrap Blanket - another gift that’s perfect for anyone craving the warm and cozy. I love the variety of patterns and think one of these beautiful blankets would be a nice addition to our couch. Various sizes available.

Stoneware Salt Cellar - we keep a few kinds of salt available in our kitchen at all times. This container is adorable and I like that it has a sturdy lid. May need to add this to our collection. I just love the phrase “salt cellar.”

Enjoy!
