Flavor Buffet

Happy New Year!

I hope you had a great holiday season and are somewhat easily adjusting to writing “2020” on all documents. I’ve only written “2019” by accident once so far. OK, maybe twice. 😬

Did you miss the Buffet? It took a holiday, but it’s back and ready to provide you with all the necessary ingredients for a fun, albeit chill, weekend. There’s been a lot of celebrating lately so let’s relax and settle down with this week’s edition.

Have a great weekend!

Read

All about one of my favorite, always-necessary baking ingredients: vanilla! There’s a lot to know about this wonderfully-scented spice.

Perhaps you enjoyed many a cocktail over the last month(s) and are cooling it a bit for January. Lucky for you, Bon Appétit’s horoscopes for the month feature non-alcoholic drinks. Refreshing! Mine was joyfully accurate. I’m a Leo. ;)

The holidays were busy with a capital B so I missed reading my weekly food newsletters. This one by Alex Beggs of Bon Appétit always makes me laugh and I found it particularly entertaining to read after the holidays. Plus, the brownie recipe at the end has now been added to my baking plan.

Cook

Chicken and Rice Meatballs with Hummus - three cheers for naturally gluten free meatballs! May need to make this on the weekend.

Silky Cauliflower Soup - naturally gluten free and not many ingredients. Sounds like a winter weeknight win to me!

Salted Chocolate Chunk Cookies - even if you’re currently pressing pause on the sweets, make sure to save this recipe for the moment the cookie cravings return. This is one of my absolute favorite cookie recipes. Just make sure to use GF flour. ;)

Dine

Sakura Organic - terrific sushi and plenty of gluten free options labeled accordingly. I always order the spicy tuna maki and often include the chicken lettuce wraps.

Little Donkey - yes, I included this hip spot in my 2019 review, but I just had to include it again because it was just that delicious. Grab your friends and reserve a table or snag seats at the bar; the food is excellent and you’ll have fun all night long. Shareable plates with many gluten free options (I loved the tuna tartare and a very knowledgeable waitstaff. Hooray!

Public Kitchen - great for watching football on the weekends or grabbing an easy meal on a weeknight. Their gluten free options have expanded so find comfort in knowing you can sidle up to the bar and order safe food all night long. Nachos are our go-to. ;)

Shop

LAFCO Fragranced Candles - I’m suddenly really into candles and this company makes so many beautiful, lightly-scented options. I just received my first one, but I think a collection has begun.

Dudley Stephens Corbin Car Coat - Treated myself to this ultra-cozy coat and I just love it. So soft! So stylish! So easily-goes-with-everything. And it’s warm for winter.

Cuyana Tote Organization Insert - Received this handy item for the holidays and it’s seriously splendid. It fits inside my large zipper tote (also by Cuyana) and keeps everything organized! There’s even a water bottle holder. Excellent!

Enjoy!

Mollie
