Flavor Buffet: 10/29/2021

Hello! Happy Friday evening and happy (almost) Halloween!

While I’m not really one to dress up and get too much into the spirit of the holiday (no pun intended), I appreciate the enthusiasm others have for it and will go along for the ride (AKA candy).

I still need to get all of the Reese’s and possibly carve a pumpkin (love to roast the seeds), but rest assured I’ll be ready by Sunday night. It’s our first year living in our own house for Halloween so I actually am a little excited for trick-or-treaters. I hope it’s fun! Whatever your plans (or lack thereof) turn out to be for Halloween, I hope you have a good one. Now, I need to figure out if Athens would wear any shred of a costume. Unfortunately, my go-to cat costume is out.

Let’s get to the Buffet!

READ

Considering Katie Couric’s new memoir? Read this first. Very interesting!

Yes, I’d love for paper menus to come back. Going to eat at a restaurant is one of the best reasons to ignore your phone.

Maybe we should all have Thanksgiving like Stanley Tucci. It’s only four weeks away…

Speaking of something too soon, gift guides! However, I want so many of the titles in this cookbook gift guide.

I will never tire of a good home tour. Vanessa Hudgens’s home in Los Feliz is chic and sophisticated without looking too fancy.

Incredibly specific, but rather “normal” Halloween costume ideas. I like it!

COOK

Caramel Crunch-Chocolate Chunklet Cookies - this might be the recipe that gets me to bake cookies again.

Pretzel Snickers Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars - these would be a delicious treat to eat while handing out candy on Sunday.

Spinach Artichoke Mac and Cheese - sign me up for this decadent, divine dish. Yum…

Blueberry Vanilla Goat Cheese Scones - definitely making these very soon for a breakfast sweet.

Gluten Free Pigs in a Blanket - perfect for a fall afternoon watching football or having a few people over for a Halloween hangout. Recipe is by my dear friend, Jen!

Charred Cauliflower Quesadillas - these are delicious! We’ve made them before and they’re a big hit for a meatless-dinner night.

Pretty leaves in the yard.

WATCH

Ghosts - a light comedy on CBS that’s just my type of spooky for this time of year (read: it’s silly, not scary, but does have ghosts).

The Morning Show - moving right along in season two and it continues to be one of my favorite hour-long dramas. So well done, so topical, so good.

Succession - season three is only two episodes in and it’s just as over-the-top as we all expect. Make sure to watch the first two seasons before jumping in - a lot happens, quickly!

SHOP

Oh you know, just some goodies to gander…

Upon further investigation (I bought two), this J.Crew cashmere collared sweater is so comfy and perfect for Zoom meetings and in-person gatherings.

Shoutout to this pack of ankle socks (6 pairs) from New Balance. Love them! And super affordable.

Speaking of New Balance, what do we think of this pair? I might need to visit the flagship store to try them on…

A friendly reminder that a Dudley Stephens turtleneck fleece (the Park Slope and Greenpoint length is my favorite) is a wonderful gift and an ultra-cozy top to wear all winter long.

No, I don’t need a camel-color coat, but I love this one from Alex Mill.

Definitely adding a Hotel Lobby Candle (or a few) to my gift guide (and wish list).

Keeping an eye on this (practical) Patagonia jacket; great for when the weather really does get cold/snowy/bad.

Happy Halloween! Enjoy!

Mollie
