Flavor Buffet: 9/18/2020

Happy Friday, everyone! September is just moving right along, isn’t it? And with that, the sweltering heat seems to have disappeared - hooray! We had a few chilly mornings here in the northeast this week and I loved it. Layering season is almost upon us. Summer is grand, but fall is fabulous. Here’s hoping for a joyful and healthy season ahead.

Have a great weekend (wear a mask) and here’s the Buffet…

READ

A very interesting read about the mixing of social media in the food world - aiming to make it a positive collaboration.

I really enjoyed this witty piece about a road trip across the country. Someday I’d like to do this as well - minus the stop at Burning Man.

I’d never turn down a homemade fish sandwich. This sounds delicious! Just use a GF roll. ;)

You know what’s exciting (to me)? SNL returns, yes it will be live, on October 3! Lorne Michaels has a lot to say about it, too.

COOK

Bean and Cheese Enchiladas - Yes I need to make these this weekend. And throughout the fall season.

Caramelized Onion Flatbread - I’d love to make this with a version of GF pizza dough. Sounds so delicious!

BBQ Chicken Meatballs - I’ve never met a meatball I didn’t love. Strongly considering this dish for football on Sunday.

Cinnamon Roll Blondies - If you’re craving a sweet treat, then I think you may need to bake these this weekend. Yum!

Potato Chip Chocolate Chip Cookies - A salty-and-sweet cookie is always my preference. These might need to be next on my baking list.

How could I forget? Find all of our original recipes right here.

DINE

We’ve been alternating between sushi and pizza on Friday nights - how delicious! Saturday mornings you can often find us ordering takeout from Twist Bakery Cafe - I love their breakfast tacos and scones. And if I’m craving fries, there’s a strong chance we’ll be ordering, and inhaling, a bag of fresh ones from here or here.

I just read that Lone Star Taco Bar in Allston is now offering taco kits to go and I may need to order a winter’s worth supply. ;) Most (not all) of their tacos are gluten free. The carnitas taco is phenomenal.

As always, be sure to mention your dietary restrictions when placing your order. When it needs to be gluten free (always) - speak up! :)

Here’s the latest guide to takeout - enjoy!

How’s everyone feeling about cardigans this season? I’ve been seeing them everywhere! This one looks so cozy. Also, this brand, Alex Mill, is new to me, but I really like (too) many of their pieces.

Happy to report that this Ilia mascara is as great as I’d hoped it would be. Strongly recommend this one!

And if you’re looking for a new toner, I’ve been using the SkinCeuticals Equalizing Toner and it’s excellent. Feels great on my face after my joyful double-cleanse each evening.

Just another plug for No Gluten No Problem: Pizza. This cookbook has over 75 recipes for making the best gluten free pizza and includes fantastic instructions. Now we’re considering a pizza oven for our apartment…

My loungewear guide (!!) is coming oh-so-soon, but here’s a sneak peek: I live in these comfy pants.

Enjoy!
