Flavor Buffet: 10/2/2020

Happy Friday! This week we had a touch of summer which was thankfully brief and now we’re welcoming October with the cool weather it deserves. Make sure to look up these days - the foliage is beautiful. I can hardly believe I’ve been working from home for seven months, but I have found my groove and it’s ‘working’ pretty well. On a positive note, this time has really allowed me to experience the seasons and for that I’m quite grateful.

This week’s Buffet jumps into the new month with all of the cozy including a guide to cashmere, a recipe that includes pumpkin, more takeout ideas, and of course, shopping. There are some very good sales happening, if you didn’t know. ;)

Have a great weekend! Please wear a mask. :)

READ

I’m a fan of this new column, “Race Matters,” over at Cup of Jo. They’re always featuring the important topics and writing about them oh so well.

Not in the mood to drink? No problem. This article includes great mocktail recipes as well as a thoughtful take on why “there’s never been a better time to be a non-drinker.”

Outsourcing one’s grocery shopping is quite normal these days. Here’s why it’s kind of a problem to those of us who are still going to the store each week.

A very good guide to the best cashmere sweaters at every price point. Helpful as the seasons begin to change…

COOK

I’m just about ready to begin baking again (I paused for a minute) and I think these Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cups would be the perfect place to start. A seasonal treat to welcome October!

If you haven’t made Chicken Parmesan Meatballs yet, then I’m afraid you’re missing out. They are stupendous and one of the best dinners for a Friday night at home. Or any night!

Don’t mind me, I’m just running to the grocery store to get everything for this Beef Fried Rice. Yum!

DINE

October has arrived and I think we need to start expanding our takeout options. We’re still having car picnics and only eating outside far from others (if we’re not home), but I’m ready to add a few more spots to our go-to list for to-go food. ;) Here’s where I’d like to try in the near future…

Lone Star Taco Bar - One of our favorite spots in Allston is now selling make-at-home Taco Kits! Sounds awesome.

Tempo Kitchen and Cocktails - I’d love to order their takeout (read: truffle fries) and eat it on a park bench.

The Bancroft - I am curious to see how their incredible dishes do when taken home to eat.

For the record, I’ll keep praising the too-delicious bacon and cheddar scone at Twist Bakery. Hot from the oven they are ridiculous. You’ll want to order a few. ;)

SHOP

I’ve had this sweater bookmarked for weeks and just can’t decide. It looks so comfy and I love the color.

Did you see my Loungewear Guide? The Dudley Stephens Somerset Sweatshirt is on the list! So. Cozy.

My constant search for great jeans never ends (I love pants). Of course Madewell is running a promo on jeans right now…

Are you following me @styledbymollied? I hope so! I wore this cardigan yesterday to welcome October and it was the perfect light layer for working at home.

My favorite hair care products from R+Co (and other brands) are currently on sale. Rejoice!

Currently loving serving our dinner in these bowls each night.

Enjoy!

Mollie
