Cupcakes from Crave are not to be missed!

Happy Friday, everyone!

When I prepared this post the weather wasn’t very summery so you may notice hints of fall (it’ll be here eventually) throughout. And while I definitely don’t mind the change in season, I love a fall wardrobe, I’m not quite ready to let go of summer. Fear not, I hear the sunshine will be back in short order as well as the heat and humidity. Hooray!

This week had a lot going on and whether you follow the news or not (you probably should), it’s important to be aware of everything happening in this country. And I’m not even talking about the pandemic! One of my favorite ways to keep up-to-date with the important events is by reading theSkimm email each morning.

Flavor Buffet is meant to be a light-hearted read that will allow you to slide into the weekend with ease. And I plan to keep it that way for the most part.

So, sit back, grab some water (or your hydration of choice), and get reading. I have good reads, great recipes, and all sorts of goodies to get you thinking about the upcoming (there, I said it) new season.

Have a great weekend! Wear a mask.

An impressive list of “lessons learned” about cooking during the quarantine.

In favor of cocktail hour with your family. Cheers!

As someone who is actively looking to purchase a new mascara very soon, this guide is extremely helpful.

A very amusing ranking of all of the state foods of Massachusetts. Who knew there were so many?

COOK

Tomato Risotto - Since risotto is one of my favorite foods, I think it’s time we make it again! This version is special for summer as it features tomatoes and zucchini; perfect for a late-August dinner.

Kielbasa-Cabbage Stir-Fry - A staple of every week of meals, stir-fry will never go out of style. This one sounds really yummy; I think we may make it over the weekend!

Chinese Rice Cake Soup - The seasons are going to change soon. I know it. So my preference for soup is slowly going to reappear. This one sounds delicious and is naturally gluten free! PS: I love this blog! Loads of wonderful recipes.

Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Brownie Skillet - Doesn’t this sound decadent and divine? I love Sarah Kieffer’s recipes and cannot wait for her new cookbook (100 Cookies) to arrive. This dessert will need to appear in our kitchen this fall..

DINE

I must admit we haven’t tried anything new in the last week, but I will continue to promote our favorite spots for takeout:

Twist Bakery Cafe - love the new chicken Caesar quesadilla! :)

Sakura Organic - the sushi is excellent and ready much faster than you expect. And almost everything can be made gluten free.

J.T. Farnham’s - everyone should have at least some fried seafood this summer. Fried oysters and clams? Yes, please.

Crave - the gluten free cupcakes (photo above) are incredible! Get there early because they often sell out!

Love at First Bite - when you’re craving Pad Thai, order it from here.

SHOP

I’ve updated The Market! Find all of our favorite, and most-used, kitchen essentials, baking ingredients, and most-delicious (and frequently purchased) snacks right here. Many new products have just been added!

The season(s) of lounging are near. I may need these lounge pants. But honestly, at this point, shouldn’t all pants be considered “loungewear?”

Has anyone tried denim from Everlane? I haven’t, but I like the look of this pair.

Also, this sweater/shirt looks perfect for fall zoom meetings. ;)

Too soon for rain coats? I like this color. And this type of jacket is good year-round, I think.

I love this cactus enamel keychain from local Boston shop Olives & Grace. They have an immense amount of cute items and excellent treats to send to everyone you know (online ordering available - yippee!).
