Flavor Buffet: 4/30/2021

Hello! Happy Friday.

After more than enough clouds and rain, it looks like the sky is finally clearing and we are going to have a really nice weekend ahead. Also, all of the small animals that treat our yard like a five-star resort will be coming back for their breakfast (lunch and dinner) at any moment. I see the bunny above almost daily as well as several squirrels, a handful of cheerful birds, and a very large woodchuck that lives under the shed. I didn’t realize our home (yard) was such a “home” for so many others! Good thing we bought the giant-size bag of bird seed (they all eat it). In other news, Athens doesn’t seem to mind the yard visitors at all!

This week’s Buffet offers some Mother’s Day ideas, some easy reads, a great cookie recipe, waffles for Sunday, restaurants I can’t wait to visit, and a few pieces to wear this spring. The birds are chirping, I’m almost fully vaccinated, and the future is looking bright. Finally.

Have a great weekend! Please continue to wear mask where it is required and go get that vaccine!

READ

Did you watch the Presidential Address on Wednesday night? I found it very informative.

Turns out Lo Bosworth is doing quite well nowadays, sans The Hills, in case you were wondering.

There’s a sale going on over at Brooklinen. Have you tried linen sheets yet?

Mother’s Day gift idea roundup! Remember: the big day is Sunday, May 9.

This just in: no more beef (recipes) at epicurious. This is a big move.

Let’s talk real estate terminology. Specifically, the joy (luxury?) of a home having an “en suite.”

I really enjoy the act of buying coffee at a local shop. However, it’s a far better plan for my wallet to just brew it myself. Check this out to learn how to make “fancy coffee” (read: store-made) at home.

COOK

Friendly reminder: pretty much any recipe can be adjusted to be gluten free. ;)

Definitely want to make buttermilk cornbread in the near future.

Who could resist this spring pea pasta with Burrata?

Now I’m craving blueberry waffles for Sunday brunch…

I’m very interested in this scallion ginger beef and tofu stir-fry.

We’ve had some cool, rainy days recently so perhaps it’s time for southern style baked mac and cheese.

I think I’m going to bake these toasted oat chocolate chip cookies. They look delicious!

DINE

We will be fully vaccinated very soon and that means our goal to go out for dinner (outside) is within reach. I cannot wait! What I miss most about going out for dinner (or any meal) is the experience/setting/vibe of being somewhere other than our house to eat. Here is a small handful of the spots I’m anxiously awaiting to visit…

Twist Bakery Cafe (we go here already but often eat in the car).

The Stones

Il Casale

Frank (brand-new spot in Beverly)

Tavern in the Square (Bar food at a bar!)

Public Kitchen

Woodman’s of Essex

SHOP

Find my new (!) skincare roundup, right here, for a detailed list of the products (and brands) I have added into my routine.

Warm days will return eventually and that means I should get a pair of shorts, or two. Currently debating this pair from Agolde which have rave reviews.

I saw this J.Crew linen top yesterday and I really want to order it. Light and breezy and chic for spring/summer days.

Home decor is in the ideas phase as we get organized for the next few projects. I’m staring at these Jenni Kayne nesting baskets and hope I can find a reason to order one (or all). Great for blanket storage, right?

Much to my delight, these utility (cargo) pants fit well and are super comfy. I’d recommend them while they’re still on sale!

Mother’s Day is coming up! This Everyday Sweater would be a great gift (perfect for layering). I’m also a fan of writing cards, baking cookies, and just telling my mom she’s awesome. :)

Enjoy!

Mollie
