Flavor Buffet: 12/18/2020

The calm after the (snow) storm.

The calm after the (snow) storm.

Happy Friday!

It’s the day after a major snowstorm here in the northeast; did you get much snow where you live? I went for a walk this morning and had to climb many a small snow mountain. It was OK though; I wasn’t too cold and it gave me a chance to break in my new ankle-height snow boots (a great find). Now that we’ve had a big storm, I am good with winter being fairly mild for the rest of the season. Additional snow...let’s keep it to a minimum. ;)

For now, I hope you enjoy this week’s Buffet with a mug of hot chocolate, the coziest sweater you can find, and a comfy spot to read.

Have a great weekend! Please wear a mask.

Read

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this gift list for the fashion fiend. A wide-range of gifts for someone who loves a bit of luxury.

Nancy Meyers’s movies are some of my all-time favorites. Let’s read about what it’s like to be in her films.

Here are 90 dessert options to make for Christmas, or any time, because it’s sweets season.

Do you notice qualities in yourself that are similar to some of your favorite TV characters? This one may take me a minute…

Milk powder is the best kept baking secret that’s not really a secret. I use it often!

And of course, there is finally some hope…

Cook

No clue why, but I’m suddenly craving spinach dip. May need to happen this weekend.

I am intrigued by these oat and pecan brittle cookies.

You know what’s delicious? Spicy Chicken Lettuce Wraps.

I’d like to try this spaghetti with tomatoes and anchovy butter.

A cookie everyone will love: salted butter and chocolate chunk shortbread. I’ve made these several times; always a winner.

Dine

Now more than ever it is important to support the restaurant industry however you’re able to do so. Order takeout, get delivery, buy gift cards, it all counts. Here are a few of my favorite spots…

Crave Beverly for fantastic GF cupcakes.

The Stones for some amazing fries and a great bun-less double-cheeseburger.

Twist Bakery Cafe for everything gluten free you could ever need (breakfast, lunch, snacks, sweets, and more).

Sakura Organic for all of the sushi (and plenty of other GF options).

West Side Creamery for amazing gluten free ice cream options including (limited edition) coffee Oreo(!!!).

Shop

This month the Shop section is featuring wish-list items from various small businesses. Small, independent shops often have some of the most unique and special gifts. It’s crucial to support them this holiday season.

If you’d like to see my primary Holiday Gift Guide, find that here.

How about a pretty mini desk calendar for the New Year?

I love this artistic phone case.

Everyone could use a new notepad. Love the cover design!

A very appropriate key fob.

Who wouldn’t enjoy a new pair of mittens?

For the candle fan in your life.

An olive wood spatula is always thoughtful for those that are always cooking.

And finally, for the sherpa-lover in all of us, this shearling leather wristlet. Love it for future adventures out and about…

Happy holidays and enjoy!

Mollie
