Happy Friday, everyone!

We’re closing the week with intense humidity and heat; hello summer! Oh, it’s been too long… Well, I don’t love the humidity, but the heat isn’t such a problem. You may feel differently. Whatever the weather where you are, I hope you have a good weekend embracing the arrival of the new season. And that’s my weather report.

This felt like a long, short week, and I’m so glad it’s Friday. Our weekend plans don’t include anything out of the ordinary although I am considering making home fries for breakfast. It’s the little things!

This week’s Buffet has got you covered for the start of summer including plenty of recipes for using zucchini, baking a fruit galette, many options for takeout, and some delicious gluten free crackers that really need to be on a cheese plate.

Have a great weekend and please stay safe, stay home if you can, and wear a mask.

Here’s some fun news: the winners of the 2020 James Beard Foundation Media Awards were announced! I love seeing who wins each year and being happily surprised (and proud) when names I’m aware of in the food industry win this prestigious award.

In defense of going for a walk with a cup of coffee. An “activity” I miss as well even if I haven’t had a single cup of caffeine since quarantine began.

Rejoice for zucchini season! Check out this roundup of 41(!) recipes to use one of the best summer veggies.

Fancy that… there’s a new Mollie Bakes! ;)

Cook

Fruit Galette - I’d love to bake one of these for my family since they love baked-fruit desserts. Perhaps a weekend project!

Perfect Corn Muffins - Speaking of breakfast (?), I’ve been craving muffins constantly. I just need to bake them.

Crispy Rice Bowl with Spring Vegetables - Running to the fridge right now to make sure we have everything to make these. This sort of dinner is exactly my speed these days.

Spicy Salmon Sushi Bowls - While we sometimes order sushi for dinner on the weekends, this bowl is calling my name. Now, time to find sushi-grade salmon that can be delivered!

Dine

Here’s my continued chant in support of the car picnic or a real picnic safely distanced from anyone near you. Check your favorite restaurant’s social media to see if they have opened for takeout/delivery and get a move on! We ordered sushi last weekend and ventured for fried shrimp the weekend before that. While we don’t order takeout too often, it’s quite a treat when we do.

But I totally agree that it’s a gaping hole in our activity list: my favorite way to relax is at a great restaurant with wonderful food and drinks. Until that’s safe to do again, we’ll be eating at our kitchen table and getting a little too excited to eat fried seafood in the car. ;)

Shop

Has anyone else been browsing online a little more often these days? I’m trying to keep my shopping habit in check, but I’m convinced the retailers know how easily I’ll open an email…

Onesto gluten free and vegan crackers are ridiculously delicious. I was lucky to receive a package from them and will be sharing more about their great company soon.

Summer is here and I’m so glad I found my classic Birkenstocks in the closet. The Arizona style will be my forever-favorite.

In my continuous hunt for high-quality skincare that doesn’t hurt my skin, I’m considering a couple products from Ursa Major. I’ll let you know how it goes! Are you familiar with this VT-based brand?

Enjoy, and be safe.
