Alison Roman’s best tips for how to host a dinner party. This is very interesting to me, and important, because I want to be someone who hosts dinner parties. I love dinner and parties so clearly we need to make it happen. Roman’s new cookbook Nothing Fancy, coming out in October, is all about hosting friends for a meal without too much work. Exactly my style.

In defense of a fabulous work bag. I’ve read Cupcakes and Cashmere daily for almost a decade and I frequently agree with their fashion finds, style mindset, and general outlook toward shopping. This style may be a bit bold for my office, but it does make me consider other styles for my daily commute.

Personally, I don’t follow any other strict dietary guidelines beyond being gluten free. And I’d never recommend cutting anything out of your diet without a doctor’s recommendation. However, it seems that everyone these days is trying paleo-this or keto-that and uh, I just don’t get it. Check out this piece that goes beyond the fad-diets and looks a bit closer at the side effects of these very limiting ways to eat.

Cook

Roast-Fish with Curry Butter - looks delicious for a Sunday night. Or any night. Curry butter? Yes, please.

Fudgy Brownies that are also gluten free and vegan - surprise! These look amazing.

Broccoli Cheddar Chicken and Rice Casserole - so many words but so many great flavors! May need to make this in October. It feels like an autumnal recipe. I would just add extra rice, or use elbow pasta, instead of the orzo in the recipe.

Dine

This weekend, why don’t you…

Stop by Davio’s for yummy gluten free pizza. And pasta. And dessert (chocolate cake!).

Make your way to The Bancroft for scrumptious fries and a great prosciutto platter.

And be sure to visit Oddfellows Ice Cream for a sweet scoop, or two, while it’s still hot out.

Shop

What can I say? I love to shop…

I’m waiting for my new gym sneakers to arrive and I can’t wait! I’ve heard great things about this brand and I’ve seen the shoes on feet all over the city. I will let you know how they work out! Pun intended.

Just found my next baking tool purchase: Nordic Ware Anniversary Loaf Pan. The loafs will be so pretty!

Strongly considering changing the color scheme of my living room by way of throw pillows on the couch. And I’ll throw it out there that the pillows from Serena & Lily are gorgeous.

Enjoy!
