Flavor Buffet

Happy Friday, everyone! And happy birthday to my husband, Seth! We took the day off to relax and celebrate - and eat! I made us buttermilk biscuits for breakfast and I’ll fill you in next week about where we go tonight. I’ve got a list of spots in mind so we’ll see where the day takes us! Birthdays are always a good time and I’m so glad to be celebrating together.

In the meantime, how about you put your feet up and check out the reading, recipes, restaurants, and products below! And have a wonderful weekend!

Being a fan of both butter and oil, I’m quite tempted to make a batch of Better Butter and find out for myself if combining the two really is better than each one on its own.

It’s no secret that the world is a fan of Samin Nosrat, of Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat fame, but each time I read another interview with her or see her on TV, I increasingly believe the hype. She really just is an awesome, friendly, smart, kind person that wants to share her cooking knowledge, joy, and expertise, with us all.

Recipes that are true winners deserve to be passed down from generation to generation. Check out this inspiring piece about how the author’s upcoming cookbook came to feature one hundred recipes that were collected by reaching out to women around the world; their favorite dishes being taught to the younger generations, and recorded, so that everyone will always have those incredible meals.

Cook

Apparently I’m craving all the carbs and goodies this week...

It’s not exactly summertime, but I could eat these corn muffins right this instant. Expect to see them a lot more often very soon. ;)

We don’t dive into pancakes very often. So sad! Although I’ve had my eye on this almond flour pancake recipe for a while now so I think it’s about time. And since they’re filled with almonds, they’re actually a little healthy, right?

Not much to say except I need to make these Smoky Fried Chickpeas right now. How delicious for an easy snack, a salad topping, or mixed into a grain bowl? Yum.

Dine

Featuring three restaurants I can’t wait to visit…

Fox and the Knife: I’ve heard great things about this newly opened restaurant from the former Myers and Chang head chef, Karen Akunowicz. It’s an enoteca located in South Boston and is supposed to be quite different from her latest work as it features what she learned when living in Italy many years ago.

Adelita: This new addition to Concord has a big list of tacos (gluten free!) and is from the same owners as another spot in town, Woods Hill Table.

G Bar and KItchen: My friends in Swampscott highly recommend this spot and I can see why; the menu sounds delicious and it’s near a few fantastic views. We’re going there ASAP.

Carla Lalli Music’s cookbook, Where Cooking Begins, hit bookstores this week and I cannot wait to make everything in it. Stay tuned...

Cup4Cup Gluten Free Flour is my go-to for all baking and any recipe that calls for non-GF flour. I simply substitute with this flour and the rest is…delicious.

My quest for ankle-height rain boots is finally complete. In the market for something similar? I’m wearing these and I’m quite happy!

Enjoy,

Mollie
