Flavor Buffet: 9/17/2021

Hello! Happy Friday.

Well, it might not be the sunniest day, it’s actually not sunny at all, but let’s be excited for the weekend anyway. I’m so glad it’s not super hot; at this point call me ready for fall. Or at least temps consistently around 65 rather than 85. I’m ready for Light Jacket Weather. Not winter. Early fall would be delightful!

Enough of my weather ramblings, let’s get to the Buffet! Articles about houseplants, the color to wear this season, plus perfect fall recipes, TV to watch tonight, and some excellent shopping. Enjoy!

Just in case you missed it, here’s a roundup of looks from the Met Gala. Wow. What variety!

A new mattress is definitely at the bottom of my “fun-to-buy” list, but buying a new mattress topper may just be the next best solution for improving the overnight hours.

An informative, important article regarding the character of Yaz in the Netflix show, ‘The Chair.’

I’m finally getting into a rhythm of taking care of the large indoor plants I insisted we buy for our house (they’re so charming). I probably should’ve checked out the best houseplants for beginners before shopping, but oh well.

I definitely believe in the concept of a “lucky meal.” One meal or even a specific food that brings positivity, hope, and hopefully good luck.

You heard it here first: “brown is the color of the moment.” Phew! I knew I was buying all earth tones for a reason. ;)

COOK

Butternut Squash and Cheese Stuffed Pasta Shells - this looks like an amazing fall dinner; red wine and cozy sweater not required, but encouraged!

Sheet Pan Hot Honey Mustard Chicken and Crispy Brussels Sprouts - another surefire fall meal which I think we’ll make next week!

Cucumber Feta Salad - before summer officially says “see ya!” I think we need to make this salad with a grilled protein on the side.

Air Fryer Sesame-Coconut Chicken Tenders - This may be (another) reason we finally need to buy an air fryer. These look so good!

Cheesy Rice Porridge with Greens - Can you say (quick) weeknight comfort food? Cannot wait to make this dish when I’m craving literally everything in the ingredient list.

Lamb Meatballs with Pecan Romesco - One more dish that would be great for very-end-of-summer mealtime. I love lamb meatballs!

WATCH

Ted Lasso (Apple TV+) - We finally jumped on the bandwagon and started the first season. What a delight! It’s funny, thoughtful, and entirely engaging. I can’t wait to finish season one and get into season two. Lives up to the hype for sure.

The Chair (Netflix) - Started watching it this week and I’m hooked! A show about the first woman of color (starring Sandra Oh) to be named chair of an English Department at a top university, things unravel quickly (or have already begun to) within minutes of the first episode.

Curb Appeal Xtreme (HGTV) - Nothing like an easy-breezy renovation show to relax the mind after a long day. I enjoy this one because I’m currently thinking a lot about how to improve the “curb appeal” of our house. Love to see the ideas for exterior and landscape design.

SHOP

This cashmere T-shirt is in my J.Crew cart and I really think it would be the best extra-cozy winter attire.

Yes, I mentioned my New Balance 327 sneakers last week, but I’m here to report again: so comfy! Great for long walks (thick or thin socks work well) and I love all of the colors available. Yes, I got more than one pair. Whoops.

Snack alert! I’m loving (gluten free) Oven Baked Parm Crisps to have with my lunch every day. Delicious! I like the classic flavor, but there are several varieties available.

Why must I be such a “jeans person?” Eyeing this pair from Madewell since the fit is pretty consistent and the Petite sizing is great. PS: Their Insider Sale (25% off) is on now!

Just one more shoutout to Slip Slipsilk Scrunchies - best hair ties I’ve worn in years.

Trying my hardest to find a reason/appropriate place for this CB2 mirror in our house. I love it!

Have a great weekend and enjoy!

Mollie
