Flavor Buffet: 3/5/2021

Hello and happy Friday!

This first week of March was a roller coaster of weather, which made me that much more ready for spring to show up and stick around. I love winter coats, but it’s time to store them away for a while. I am very ready to shift over to Light Jacket Season. With all of the good news popping up lately, it makes me want warm air, sunshine, and the opportunity to skip socks whenever I wish to do so. How are you feeling about the seasons right now? I think we are all ready for a (positive) change.

Hopping over to the Buffet, this week’s selections are a fun blend of practical, silly, informative, and just plain delightful. My goal each week is to offer a curated selection of reading (and other stuff) that you find useful, but very much “low stress.”

These days, no one needs to be stressed out any more than the usual amount. Flavor Buffet is here to help you kick back and relax - even before the weekend has begun.

Have a great weekend! Please wear a mask.

I will definitely be tuning in to the Harry and Meaghan interview with Oprah on Sunday night.

If you’re in the market for a new candle (I think I might be?), check out this selection of 27 candles from black-owned businesses.

This winter has taken a toll on my skin. In fact, my hands are so dry that my knuckles sometimes spontaneously start bleeding. Yikes! I need to moisturize more often. Saving this guide to the best body lotion right now.

As we continue to decorate, I’m enjoying a few home tours online every week. This one is cute! Made me think about paint colors and lighting…

At what point in life is it worth considering learning to make your own marshmallows?

Speaking of house tours, I’m finding major serene-and-neutral inspiration from this bedroom. So airy, light, and relaxing.

COOK

With some buttermilk left from my cake-baking, I think it’s time for sour cream and onion biscuits. Made these last spring - they are beyond delicious.

I have baking on my mind and it’s definitely time for corn muffins.

Baked Feta with Tomatoes and Chickpeas - who cares if the “trend” has passed? This looks delicious.

If you’re looking to skip dairy at dinnertime (we do fairly often), I’d recommend Thai Red Curry Meatballs. So good!

Herby Chicken Kofta Meatballs - Going to make these ASAP and serve them with a big salad and some GF pita on the side.

DINE

At this point, we will be waiting until we’re fully vaccinated before venturing into a restaurant for dinner. Thankfully, this plan doesn’t seem quite so far away any more and that’s absurdly exciting. For now, let me offer you my restaurant guide, Bar Bites, for your perusal as we all wait for the future…

Comfy pants are still the norm around here for TV-viewing and I am loving Vuori joggers. Great for relaxing or working out - convenient!

As I begin thinking about wall decor for my office, I may need to get this sunny print for one of the walls. It’s just cheerful.

Looking into adding SkinCeuticals Retinol to my nighttime skincare routine. According to friends, our 30s is prime-time to begin using this product (I’m already 35, but better late than never).

I ordered this lightweight Everlane trench for spring (on a whim) because even the comfiest outfits deserve a chic coat. ;)

Besides the vintage rug in my office, there’s one more area that could use a soft spot. I’m thinking about this one for the front corner section. It’s very different than the main rug - complimentary but different in color and texture. I like it!

Enjoy!
