Flavor Buffet: 3/26/2021

Hello! Happy Friday.

I’m so glad the weekend is just about here (or has arrived if it’s after 5pm on Friday). Spring made an appearance this week and it was entirely welcome. The warm air and sunshine felt so good and it’s put me in a semi-permanent good mood. Or maybe that’s my new workout routine?

If you’re following on Insta, I finally dove in and bought a Peloton bike. What a thrill! And what a change in terms of my mood, outlook on exercise, and personal strength. I am not the fastest in the pack and I’m exhausted after each ride, but I actually look forward to the workout and am determined to do better each time I clip in (which has its own learning curve, too). All this to say is that having a workout routine I “enjoy” is key to actually doing it every day. Surprise, surprise…

Finding a form of exercise one wants to do daily can take time and there will be some trial and error (my previous routine wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t “just right” either). I’m not here saying you need a bike, but I am here to say it feels really good to have found a routine I look forward to. It’s an instant mood booster every afternoon and for that I am quite grateful.

This was a long and winding way to the Buffet, wasn’t it? Whoops! In other news the Buffet is here to help you relax, stay informed, consider some baking, and a bit of shopping if you so choose. Might I suggest reading this outside in the sunshine? Don’t forget sunscreen!

Have a great weekend! Please wear a mask when out and about. Get that vaccine when it’s your turn!

READ

Did you hear about this gargantuan boat? It’s stuck. And that’s definitely a problem.

If anyone else out there is still watching This Is Us (I am), this week’s episode was delightful if not too exciting. #unclenicky

A handful of bright and fresh spring meals. Inspiration is everywhere and fresh, local produce is starting (soon) to be available.

Our house was built in 1900 and I am constantly striving to find a balance between honoring the history and details while bringing it into the modern (2021) era. This article is extremely helpful as I navigate the design process (even if we’re aren’t renovating).

We recently added a few plants to our house and I’ve been stressing about ever since (plant-newbie over here). This article was helpful for my not-yet-green-thumb.

A very in-depth look at how food has changed over the last fifty years. Yes, fifty years ago was 1971. Whoah.

I wish I was someone who could rattle off the names of cocktails they enjoy and their ingredients, but thankfully bartenders exist. And since we’re still cocktail-ing at home right now, this Interactive Cocktail Cabinet is absurdly useful!

COOK

I think we all need Fried Garlic Noodles in our lives these days.

I made this berry cream cheese cake last week and omg it was awesome. It was gone faster than the weekend.

There doesn’t need to be any other reason other than I want (need) it for these garlic and herb parmesan biscuits.

Speaking of spring, we will be making crispy chicken thighs with smashed peas next week.

Without a doubt, I will make these oven fried halloumi bites with hot honey to go with a cocktail this weekend.

My next dessert project will be this soy sauce caramel ice cream (it’s gluten free!). Also, I’m so glad I discovered this website.

Chicken Larb is a delicious, super-quick dish. I can’t wait to make this one from The Woks of Life soon.

DINE

The sooner everyone is vaccinated the sooner we will go back to dining out at restaurants. I am counting down the days. I love being home, but my goodness I cannot wait to go out again.

Here’s my Bar Bites: Takeout for the time being. :)

Someday we will go back to NYC and go to all of my favorites in these guides.

SHOP

Working away on decor and couldn’t be happier with the new floor mirror I got for my office. Outfit posts will soon return!

I’d love to get a leather bench for the end of our bed, but I’m having a hard time selecting a style and color. I do like this one.

This rectangular planter could look nice on our deck filled with greenery.

I love this open vase for the kitchen. Or maybe the dining room?

This stoneware vase is nice, too.

I’ve seen Boll & Branch sheets advertised everywhere lately and I think it may be time to finally try them.

Enjoy!

Mollie
