Fenway Park in Boston. Enjoyed our first game of the season this week!

Fenway Park in Boston. Enjoyed our first game of the season this week!

Hello! Happy Friday!

This week began amidst a heat wave with temperatures getting up to 93 degrees, daily. That is too hot if you ask me. Admittedly, those heat wave days of the week were a blur and I’m glad to now be typing with a cool breeze and no need for a fan two inches from my face. What a change! I’m all for summer weather, but extreme heat and humidity is never a fun time. But I digress…

The two wins of the heat wave: I finally perfected making iced coffee at home and learned to semi-style my hair without using a hair dryer or flat iron. Small wins, my friends, but every win counts! And those two were particularly important, especially given the weather.

But you’re not here for a review of iced coffee (so good), you’re here for the Buffet! In this week’s roundup I’m sharing a chic home tour, plenty of sunscreen, summer recipes featuring right-now ingredients, and some shopping because it’s Friday and well, why not? Treat yourself! And enjoy your life.

Have a great weekend!

We have gone out to eat a few times now, but have stuck to outdoor seating. What about all of the other scenarios at restaurants?

A look behind the scenes at the new movie, In the Heights, and how they filmed one of the biggest scenes. I can’t wait to see it!

I love this home tour on Fire Island. How serene!

Four cookbooks with summery recipes to help you prepare, and pack, a delicious picnic.

A great list of five mineral sunscreen options. Be sure to wear it every day.

COOK

Next time there’s a heat wave, I’m going to be prepared with these chocolate-peanut butter sheet pan ice cream sandwiches.

We will also be making these summer grain bowls with green goddess feta dressing.

This sounds good and weeknight-ready: white fish with tomato basil beans.

Perfect for lunch, dinner, or whenever: BLT Corn Fritter Stacks. Yum!

It’s always a good night for a chicken and asparagus stir-fry.

Speaking of summer, we may need to make this grilled asparagus and arugula salad with goat cheese next week.

DINE

This week, I’d love to hear from you! Do you live locally near Boston? Or someplace else? Wherever you live, I’d love to know your favorite restaurants to visit these days as I’m always interested in learning about new spots.

And just be sure to go here if you’re looking for my dining guides, Bar Bites.

SHOP

My crop-length tops from x karla arrived and I must admit, I like them! Very fun, and comfortable, even if it’s not a style I would gravitate toward daily. Perfect for hot summer days.

I shopped my closet and look what’s back in the denim rotation: Madewell’s Perfect Vintage style in petite (better length for me). The fit is so good!

Despite my best effort, I will always want my hair to be entirely up and out of the way for exercise. Therefore, these slip silk skinny hair ties have been key for workouts with my new, shorter hair.

My search for a front-hall runner continues, but I think this neutral, Jute one from Serena & Lily may be it!

And in the world of furniture I’ll never buy, I love this (very expensive) boucle chair and ottoman. A girl can (and should) dream…

Enjoy!
