Flavor Buffet: 7/10/2020

Hello and happy Friday from hazy, hot, and humid Boston! This week the sticky part of summer decided to arrive and linger like whoah. I do love these months, but the humidity has got to be the toughest part. On the bright side, I’ve rediscovered my enjoyment of lemon sorbet and given in to wearing gym clothes most of the time (#sweatlife). That’s the world right now!

Well, there is a lot going on in the world, as you know, but I won’t dig in to that beyond the necessary request: Wear. A. Mask. If you’re going out and you will be near people who don’t live in your home, wear a mask. It’s that simple. And easy.

Speaking of easy, this week’s Buffet is serving up some great reading, plenty of recipes I’d love to make right now (fish tacos!), and my current favorite sneakers for all of the walks I’ve been taking in the heat. I may hold off on the running until the temp drops below 80…

Have a wonderful weekend!

Eventually, someday, we’ll all eat in restaurants again and it will be delightful. Especially if all of these changes happen as well.

Speaking of restaurants, if you go to one, wear your mask and don’t complain about it. Just wear it.

Picking up Starbucks as one of your out-of-the-house activities? Check out this list of “healthier” drink options when you’re selecting your contactless pickup order.

And if you’re heading out to shop, then wear your mask (duh) and check out these Black-owned shops around Boston.

All about the joy behind making a fruit galette. So impressive to look at and so easy to bake!

Cook

Sweet Potato and Black Bean Chili - Even in the summer chili sounds like a cozy, delicious option.

Crispy Pork Carnitas - We don’t make carnitas too often, but I’m thinking it’s just about time to make it again. This recipe sounds perfect!

Smashed Avocado Fish Tacos - It’s wicked hot out and well, these fish tacos sound like they will be perfect for dinner.

Asian Chicken Slaw - We’ve made this before and it’s really delicious. I have a feeling we will make it again soon as it’s perfect hot-weather fare.

Thai Basil Sesame Cashew Chicken with Coconut Rice - How timely to find this one! Our Thai basil has been growing so well on the balcony, I think it’s time to use it.

Dine

Outdoor dining, indoor dining, whatever makes you comfortable is what’s happening right now, apparently. We are sticking to takeout, as I’ve said before, so I don’t have many updates right now. I’d love for you to support local restaurants however you feel most comfortable so here are my dining guides!

This summer is a hot one. I may need to order an extra pair of these to get me through the most-humid of days to come.

I’m wearing these sneakers (the Henry Half & Half) for my walks every day and I love how lightweight they feel on my feet. The two-tone color is fun, too. PS: the brand is having a terrific sale right now. ;)

Thinking about baking? Stock up on my favorite dark chocolate chips for any-time cookies, or a quick dessert straight out of the bag.

These running shorts are a savior for indoor and outdoor workouts (I love the back-side zipper pocket). Plus, they wash well and last for years.

Did you see my skincare post? This is the product I’m using most (morning and night) each day.

Enjoy! Wear a Mask.

Mollie
