Poll of the Day! January, week three.

Here are the results of the week’s polls! Most recent is at the top.

Non-food related! We are on an adventure this week, and it’s my second flight ever! I love the daytime flights as I literally look out the window almost the entire time. I am wide-eyed and excited to see so much more of the world and we are getting there, one trip at a time. Despite my lack of extensive travel outside the Northeast, I do feel as though I’ve been to many cool places, but I’m loving seeing parts of this country I had only seen in photos. Here’s to enjoying travel and continuing to explore! How could you sleep on the flight? I was too excited to arrive!

Almost split on this one! I’m glad the love it group pulled ahead though since I really think eggplant is making a cool comeback. And despite not really knowing too much about it until recently, I really appreciate how versatile it can be. We love it as eggplant parm, especially, but are enjoying finding new ways to prepare this fun purple veggie.

Cheers to the silky soup club! I’ve always loved soup with minimal ingredients and tend to leave the “stuff” behind and savor the broth. Weird, I know! While I do love a great chili or minestrone, my taste buds have been leaning more in line with the silky, smooth, and minimal lately.

And the chicken group squeaked by with the win! I was somewhat surprised more people didn’t choose the beef “set,” but I understand. I have to say I couldn’t pick a side!! I’ve enjoyed meatballs from both of these groups so it was mildly unfair I made you all pick a side as well. That being said, our most recent venture with chicken meatballs was outstanding! So for now, I guess I’m on that side, but then again, lamb meatballs are heavenly delicious.... how could we ever pick?! I love them all. ☺️

Well, I tried! And it seems that most people aren’t quite as particular about their kitchen’s status while they use it. Of course, it depends on the project, but I do try to clean as I go along, and am often trying to clean up a bit even during dinner prep. which is silly, but I do it anyway. I suppose it’s accurate that I’d land in the minority on this one, since most folks just do their cooking/baking and clean it all up afterward. Not a bad plan! Once in a while I follow that usual order (or lack thereof) but end up being not nearly as calm throughout the project. Guess that settles it. Clean and calm is key for me. 😎

I was somewhat worried that a few people said, “nope,” for this one, but I guess it all balances out since a high number are very pro-pickle. Growing up I wasn’t the biggest fan, but sooner or later I realized the delicious power of a great pickle. Perfect for snacks, on sandwiches, or a fun salad garnish (of some kind?), these versatile veggies are a staple in our house since Seth’s parents make batches and batches of them every summer using cucumbers from their own garden. Super local and fresh-made, these are such a treat when we get our “delivery” each year. And they last!!

For a while I wasn’t sure that my favored spicy side would win, but thankfully a lot of you participated bringing the lead far ahead. I suppose sometimes I don’t need the spicy tones of guacamole, for instance when I’m adding it to an otherwise spicy dish. But when I’m simply using it as a topping for chips, then it’s all about bold flavor and spice! At the restaurant mentioned in the poll, their guacamole was a perfect balance of flavors and I loved that jalapeño slices dotted the portion we received. That way, those of us who want the heat can take it, and others can swiftly avoid it altogether. A perfect balance! Yum. :)
